OUR BELIEFS
Jesus Christ at the centre of our faith
St John Moraia is a Fijian Methodist Christian community in Christchurch. Our faith is centred on Jesus Christ, our Saviour and Lord. We believe in the transforming love and grace of God, the saving work of Christ through His death and resurrection, the work of the Holy Spirit, and the truth of Holy Scripture. Following our Methodist heritage, we seek to grow in holiness, worship faithfully, proclaim the Gospel, serve others in love, and live as faithful disciples of Jesus Christ.

1. WE BELIEVE IN ONE GOD
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
We believe in one God, eternally known as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God the Father is the Creator and Lord of all; Jesus Christ is the Son of God, our Saviour and Lord; and the Holy Spirit is God’s living presence, guiding, strengthening and transforming the Church and all who believe.

2. WE BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST
Saviour and Lord
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully revealing God’s love and saving grace. He lived without sin, gave Himself for us on the cross, died for our sins, rose again from the dead, and reigns as our Saviour and Lord. Through Christ we receive forgiveness, reconciliation with God, new life, and the hope of eternal life.

3. WE BELIEVE IN THE CROSS, SIN AND REDEMPTION
God’s Grace and Forgiveness
We believe that sin separates humanity from the holy purposes of God and that we cannot save ourselves. In His great love and mercy, God acted for our salvation through Jesus Christ. On the cross, Christ gave Himself for us and bore our sins, opening the way to forgiveness, reconciliation with God, and new life. God’s saving grace calls us to repentance, faith in Christ, and a life transformed by His love.
