Our commitment

 

St John Moraia Fijian Methodist Parish is committed to making our website welcoming, useful and accessible to as many people as reasonably possible, including people with disabilities.

 

Our aim is that visitors should be able to access information about our parish, worship services, ministries, community activities, sermons, prayer support and other services regardless of the technology or assistive tools they use.

 

We are working toward accessibility practices consistent with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG provides internationally recognised guidance for making web content more accessible to people with visual, hearing, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning and neurological disabilities. 

 

We do not currently make a formal claim that every page or item of third-party content on this website fully conforms to WCAG 2.2 Level AA.

 

Accessibility measures

 

As we develop and maintain this website, we aim to:

 

provide meaningful alternative text for important images;

 

use clear headings and a logical page structure;

 

maintain reasonable colour contrast between text and backgrounds;

 

use readable text sizes and layouts;

 

make links and buttons clearly identifiable;

 

provide meaningful labels and instructions for website forms;

WCAG 2.2 Level AA is also the benchmark currently incorporated into New Zealand’s Government Web Accessibility Standard. 

 

Images, sermons and media

 

Our website contains photographs, sermon posters, video, livestreams and other media.

 

We aim to provide useful text descriptions for meaningful images and to make audiovisual material accessible where reasonably practicable.

 

Older material or media supplied by third parties may not always include captions, transcripts, audio descriptions or complete alternative text. We will progressively improve this content where practicable.

 

If you need information from an image, sermon poster, video or other media in another format, please contact us and we will make reasonable efforts to assist.

 

Forms

 

Our website includes forms that may be used for purposes such as contacting the Parish, joining our church community or submitting a prayer request.

 

We aim to ensure that form fields have understandable labels, instructions and error information and can be completed using commonly used devices and assistive technologies.
